Vintage in India

A CORRESPONDENT informs us that for the 14th Statesman Vintage Rally in New Delhi an entry of 67 was obtained, in spite of the spares difficulty, due to scarcity and foreign-exchange limiting the import of these. The cars competing ranged from a Delaunay-Belleville dated as 1905 to 1939 Bentley, Packard and other makes. A Standard 8 had been found in 1973 in its original packing-case and a 1938 Cadillac tourer had but 12,000 miles on its odometer. There was a 1936 Royal Daimler in the programme, as if to cock-a-snoot at a 1937 40/50 Rolls-Royce, and someone might explain the 1932 Auckland.
