UNHAPPY COURIER

Sir,

I do wish that I had read Mr. Snook’s letter after he had written instead of only today, the first of the month, it would have saved me a deal of disgust regarding Standard-Triumphs. For a couple of weeks ago they brought out, with a lot of ballyhoo, a Courier model, and my wife, fed up with my constant moaning about her Boxer dogs (Which she breeds as a hobby) messing up the inside of my Sapphire, suggested that I purchased one for her to run the dogs about.

I did. It was delivered before the insurance and tax were through, otherwise I’d never have accepted delivery. To start, wing mirrors were useless; footbrake virtually ditto. On turning a right-hand corner there is a terrible noise from the near-side rear. On anything bar a billiard-table road there is terrible drumming plus a sound of metal surfaces chafing.

This car could never have been tested and if that is how Standard send their cars out no wonder C.A. shows them up. My wife says she gets a ” buzzing in her head and a singing in her cars,” and refuses to use it. The suppliers are apologetic (why ?) and say they will do all they can when it goes in for first service. Anyone want a 5oo-mile Courier ?
