Mistaken identity
In view of the similarity of the, new Farinacious B.M.C. cars, we suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later — the Oldham Evening Chronicle published a picture of an Austin A55 recently and captioned it a Morris Oxford series V ! Of course, they should have.known that the Austin differs from the Morris Oxford in the arrangement of the radiator grille slats but, as the correspondent who sends us the cutting remarks, here is a nightmare come true.
Another case of mistaken identity seems to have occurred when Kay Kendall and her husband Rex Harrison arrived at a reception at Carlton Hall some time ago. According to a correspondent, the Daily Mail reported that they “swept up in a chocolate-coloured Bentley” whereas the Daily Express had it that ” up to the side entrance swept a black Rolls-Royce.” We have less sympathy in this instance because the modern products of Crewe do possess distinctive radiators, not merely slight differences in the radiator grilles, even if all else is identical. But doesn’t this emphasise the depressing similarity between certain modern cars?
