A. .41. N encouraging list of entries have been received by the R.A.C. for

the Mannin Beg and .Mannin Moar Races which take place at Douglas on May 30th and June 1st. The former is confined to cars up to 1,500 c.c. unsupercharged and 1,100 c.c. supercharged, with the Moar race, as last year, for cars above those capacities, The start will take place at 10 a.m.

Cars will be 21111 in racing trim, without any restriction as to type, single seater bodies may be fitted, no mechanics will be carried, and two pit attendants will be allowed for all replenishments, repairs and so forth in addition to the driver.

The course has been altered as shown on the plan. The principal grand-stand will be on the Promenade on the inside of the course, midway between the arrow and “Villa Marina,” and should command a view of a mile of the fastest stretch of the course. The pits will be on the outside of the course opposite the grand-stand. As will be seen the cars will turn Off the Promenade at right angles up into the town and descend quite steeply to the hairpin at the foot of Bray Hill. Here they rejoin the motor-cycle T.T. course which they follow past the stands in a reverse direction to Governors Bridge. Thence onwards to Onchan and down Summer Hill back to the Promenade they use the same roads as last year.

The new circuit includes two straights over a mile in length and some high speeds should be seen. The race will consist of fifty laps, making a total distance of approximately 200 miles. Practising will take place on Monday and Tuesday, the 28th and 29th May, between 5 and 7 a.m. The principal trophies for the Mannin

Beg and Mannin Moar races are given respectively by Lord Wakefield and the M.G. Car Company. The following prizemoney is offered in each race ; first £200, second £150, third £100, and fourth £50. A team prize will also be awarded in each race.

Twenty-two entries have been received up to the date of going to press. Brian Lewis will be driving a Monoposto Alfa and John Cobb his two-seater. Matheson has entered his 2.3 Bugatti. In the small race, Eyston has entered

3 Magnettea and A. H. L. Eccles and_ Horton have each entered one. Dixon has two entries, Rayson will be driving his supercharged Riley, and Raymond Mays has decided to run two of the L.R.A. cars, which are of course based on 1,500 c.c. Rileys.

All indications point to a successful session in the Isle of Man, especially now that the stands have been arranged in positions from which the spectators can see something interesting. Bridges are also to be erected at several points of the course.

VOLUNTEERS FOR THE ISLE OF MAN CAR RACES.

voLITNTEERS are asked to come forward for this year’s Douglas Car Races to assist with the Breakdown Parties.

Members of the Breakdown Parties are required to keep the course clear of any cars which may come to grief in their section. As they are stationed at the most thrilling places round the course, members naturally have a first class view of the Race. Anyone who feels he would like the job and . will be in Douglas during the practises or the race days, should write to Colonel H. W. Madoc, C. B. K. M.
