NEW 327 c.c. MODEL AND A “LIGHT TWIN.”

VANADIUM LTD., of 64, Victoria St., London, S.W. 1, announce two additional models to their already extensive range of Johnson motors.

There is the “Standard Twin” which is a 327 c.c. motor and is intended for use on large rowing boats or very light weight semidisplacement boats. The cylinders are opposed and slightly offset to permit the use of normal straight -connecting rods. The pistons are of Lynite, and all main bearings of bronze.

Both the “Standard Twin” and the” Light Twin ” are designed with a view to simplicity, and rotary valves are not incorporated in either model ; the gas being led from the carburettor to the induction ports by an ordinary manifold. At 2,800 r.p.m., the ‘ Standard Twin’ develops 7 h.p. It has a total weight of 60 lbs.

The “Light Twin “, a 154 c.c.

motor, might be termed the Standard Twin’s “little sister.” It is almost identical in design, but has cast iron pistons and only weighs 45 lbs. This motor develops 3 h.p. at 2,800 r.p.m.

Both motors can be supplied with long shafts for use on larger boats, and an underwater exhaust system is standard in both cases. The prices are £41 and £30 respectively.

Although not new, the world’s lightest outboard motor is of interest. This is the” Sea Horse Single,” a 11 h.p. motor weighing 27lbs. It has a single cylinder, and delivers its power at 2,700 tp.m. In spite of its small size, it has all the features that have made other Johnson motors famous.; including, full tilting movement, full pivot steering (which means that the motor can be turned right round to propel the boat backwards), and a waterproof flywheel magneto. The price in this case is £29.
