MOTOR CYCLE COMPETITORS IN M.C.C. EVENTS.

Following the S.M.M.T. ban on road competitions, another blow has been dealt to the sport by the refusal of the M.C.C. to become affiliated to the A.C.U. The result of this decision is to seriously jeopardise the success of the London-Edinburgh run to be held at Whitsuntide. The A.C.U. have notified all competition licence holders that if they participate in this event, either as competitors or officials, they are liable to be dealt. with under the General Competition Rules of the Union.

A.C.U. STOCK MACHINE TRIAL.

Preparations are almost completed for this interesting event which takes place from May 3rd-May 8th, over a course of approximately 750 miles, mostly in the Peak District. The start is at the Wolseley Motors, Ltd., works at Washwood Heath, Birmingham, and for the rest of the

week the Headquarters of the Trial will be the Palace Hotel, Buxton.

Entries have been received from most of the wellknown manufacturers, and the results should be followed closely by all prospective buyers, it being remembered that all competing machines are standard models taken from stock and sealed by the Union officials.

NEW RECORDS BY A. DENLY.

Riding a 490 c.c. Norton at Brooklands on April 13th, A. Denly set up new records for the 2 hours, 3 hours and 200 miles. These records apply to Classes C (500 c.c.), and D (750 c.c.), and the 3 hours also applies to Class E (i,00o c.c.). The figures are :

2 hours, t73 miles 884 yards = 86.75 m.p.h.

3 hours, 356 miles 1,743 yards –= 85.66 m.p.h.

200 miles in 2 hours 19 mins. 54.06 secs. = 85.79 m.p.h.

The 3 hour record was previously held by the Italian Guzzi machine on Monza Speedway at 84.34 m.p.h.
