Ganassi signs Rahal
Chip Ganassi will run a new twocar IndyCar Series team this season in addition to his existing title-winning squad with Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon.
Graham Rahal (left with Ganassi), who worked through four different teams last year due to a lack of sponsorship, has signed to drive. He will be joined by Indy Lights graduate Charlie Kimball.
Ganassi believes a pair of two-car teams which are strongly linked and have the ability to share data and knowledge — as in Rick Hendrick’s successful NASCAR outfit — is better than a single four-car squad. Rahal said: “Coming off a year like I’ve just had, it’s a huge relief to find a home with a team of this quality. Time and again Chip Ganassi Racing has been the best and to have guys like Dario and Scott to learn from, I don’t think there’s a better combination. The pressure’s on me to succeed.” Chip Ganassi interview, p92
