Rodney Quaife
This leading transmission designer died recently. In the 1960s, his company enjoyed great success with motorbikes, ridden by stars such as Mike Hailwood and Barry Sheene.
During the 1980s, he patented the torque-biasing differential used in Gerhard Berger’s 1986 Mexican GP-winning Benetton. Quaife transmission products continue to be widely used in motorsport. PL
