A tribute will be paid to Basil Davenport by the construction of an obelisk at Shelsley Walsh. The memorial will mark the centenary of the birth of the `GN Spider’ driver.

Chevron Racing has launched a retro version of the marque’s first design, the B1. The car is aimed at the trackday market, and is the work of marque expert Vin Malkie.

The Wakefield Trophy has been acquired by the National Motor Museum. With financial assistance from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the National Motor Museum has acquired it for just under £40,000. It was first awarded to Major Henry Segrave for breaking the world land speed record in 1929.

The Historic Rally Car Register has instigated a series for cars built between 1975 and the end of ’81. The Classic Stage Rally Challenge has six events, and cars pledged already include an ex-Russell Brookes Sunbeam Lotus and an ex-works Vauxhall Chevette HSR.
