Unraced GT40 to be auctioned
An unfinished Ford GT40 has surfaced in Kent, and will be auctioned in March.
Chassis P1112 (above) was part of the inventory when Ford wound up the programme and sold the components, induding six monocoques, to P&M Racing Preparations of Chiswick, who became service agents for the cars.
A private individual bought the bare chassis over 30 years ago, but although he assembled many of the parts needed to finish the project, the car has never been completed. Auctioneers Christies says it only needs interior, wiring and exhausts to give this genuine, unblemished GT40 its first-ever run.
