Auntie's treasure trove

Sir,

I hate to take the august Bill Boddy to task, but I think his critical report of the BBC programme Treasure Hunt deserves some redress. He has confused light entertainment with motor racing history.

The views of Higham House during the programme were delightful. I know what a splendid place it is, having visited there a number of times in the company of the fine old gentleman who passed on the final clue to Suzi Perry during the programme. Bill failed to point out the reason for that gentleman holding the clue: he is probably the last living link there is with Count Zborowski. He is Louis Martin, the son of riding mechanic Len Martin who was in the very same Mercedes during that fateful race at Monza in 1924. And I have the honour to be the nephew of Louis.

Higham House is owned by Amanda Harris Deans and Patricia Gibbs, who have taken on the enormous task of restoring it and the grounds to their former glory. It would be a journey to nirvana for all devotees of Motor Sport to pay a visit and absorb its historic past.

I am, yours etc, Michael Porter, Moulton, Nothants
