• Brooklands Books of Cobham, Survey, have two more Gold Portfolios in their enormous range of one-make books. which must now constitute the most complete historical source of reference available, at least of the more recent makes and models, with emphasis on road-test reports — although these are useful reprints permitted — somewhat to my surprise — by all the leading motor magazines publishers. The latest titles cover the Lotus Seven and the Lotus/ Caterham Seven, those true sports’ cars for enjoyment by the stout-hearted. Each book, of 172 pages, costs £12.95 from book-shops, £1,50 extra for postage from Cobham. I am glad to see that five of MOTOR SPORT’s opinions of those exciting little cars, including how to make one from a kit, appear, including my account of being flown up to the Lotus open day at Hethel by Michael Tee in an ex-London-Sydney racing Piper Twin Comanche, and then taking a cold drive back to Wales in a 1970 Lotus Seven – so enjoyable, until the gearbox seized up!
