Jack Hampshire, the I.o.W. steam enthusiast, still has his 1930 solid-tyred Foden steam wagon in service. Are there any twin-cylinder Jowetts looking for a new home ? We have an enquiry for a pre-1931 specimen. Nice’s Austin Ulster won the 1965 750 M.C. Tiedman Trophy by six points from G. Puzey’s Austin 7 tourer, P. Moores’ Austin Ulster being third. John Steed, in “The Avengers” on I.T.V., changed his vintage Bentley for a 30/98 Vauxhall on Jan. 28th. According to the informative duplicated bulletin of the Triple-M Register, interesting M.G.s in course of rehabilitation include both the Le Mans M-type M.G.s, a C-type, a J4 found in a breaker’s yard, and an R-type chassis which is apparently that of the car raced in 1935 by Malcolm Campbell. The last-named is owned by Syd Beer, and Bruce Beer is rebuilding the only completely original K3 Magnette in the country, while Geoff Coles is working on his second blown J4. A 14/40 Vauxhall saloon is being rebuilt in Hampshire and another, in very derelict condition, was reported on the Isle of Wight some time ago.

The Historic Commercial Vehicle Club has joined in the condemnation of high pricing of old vehicles and owners and vendors who encourage this. A rare 1937 Austin Eighteen 2-seater was encountered in Hereford recently, having a professional wash-down, no doubt to preserve it from the winter road salt. The H.C.V.C. Clapham-Brighton Historic Commercial Vehicle Run takes place on May 1st. and on that Sunday the Clapham Transport Museum, from which the run starts, will have an open day, admission costing 5s. a head for adults, 2s. 6d. for children, which should make a pilgrimage to see the start doubly worthwhile.
