Buying a Rolls-Royce

Sir,
I note with interest your paragraph entitled “Buying a Rolls-Royce.”

From what I hear, every obstacle will impede you from road testing any of these cars, whether new, or secondhand. Your “home truths,” to some, are obviously too truthful!

A point that should be made clear to would be purchasers of these cars, is the cost that may be involved in their maintenance. Before buying, it might be worth while to have a look at a priced list of spare parts; and also to appreciate that a normal “decoke” including checking over the carburetters, ignition and battery, might cost up to £100 per cylinder.

Are they worth it?

Is it not better to have exactly what you want, hand built to your own requirements, at a fraction of the cost and with many times the satisfaction?
