Boreham Racing Circuit
We. have received the following from the West Essex C.C.:
“The Club have been informed that The Motor Racing Co., Ltd., lessees of the track, will not be sponsoring or running motor racing at Boreham in 1953.
“They have also announced that they have no objection to the owners of the circuit allowing the West Essex Car Club to organise events there. The Club has approached the owners who have refused to allow any form of motor sport to take place at Boreham.
“The above decision is very disappointing and a surprise to the West Essex Car Club, whose members have worked so hard to bring this track from small beginnings three years ago to an international racing venue. They wish to thank the many people who have helped them in their endeavours, i.e., the Press, Motor Trade and members of other Motor Clubs.
“The Club has made arrangements with the owners of another well-known circuit in East Anglia, Snetterton, near Thetford, Norfolk, to allow their various race meetings in 1953 to take place there with R.A.C. permission.
“The following are the new details:
April 12th — Speed Trial. Half mile instead of one kilometre. Closed Invitation. Not National.
May 30th — Race Meeting (R.C.S.). National. Not International.
June 27th — Race Meeting (R.C.S.). Closed Invitation. (Tim Birkin Bentley Trophy and Bill Lyons Jaguar Trophy races.)
August 1st — Race Meeting. Closed. Not International.
October 17th. Race Meeting. Closed Invitation. Not Closed.
“It is hoped that our many friends and competitors will support us at our new venue, and the Club will assure them of the usual friendly West Essex Car Club welcome.”
