Racing Motorists' "Brains Trust"
Described by Mr. Raymond Mays as “the first occasion of its kind,” nearly a score of famous racing car drivers met technical experts of the Lodge Plugs Company at Rugby to exchange ideas and discuss arrangements for the coming racing season.
Mr. Bernard Hopps, managing director of the company, stated that the design or the new Lodge racing plugs was based on that of their very successful aircraft plug, and added that every racing plug was tested at 600 lb. per sq. in, pressure, at a temperature of 200 degrees C. “We have now developed a complete range of racing plugs,” He said, “and we are convinced that if the right plug is used for the right occasion it is definitely possible to warm up and race on the same plug.”
Mr. Raymond Mays, on behalf of British racing motorists, welcomed the chance of expressing their views on technical subjects. The ability to warm up and race on the same plug was, he said, an absolute godsend to the driver and mechanics.
