Vintage S.C.C. Marlow Trial,

The results of the Vintage S.C.C. Marlow Trial, given above, have been subjected to slight amendment. The winners remain unchanged, but second place in the vintage category now goes to A. C. Beasley-Robinson’s 1924 “30/98” Vauxhall, with 228 1/2 points, Peck’s Darracq, in spite of its magneto drive slipping, being third with 228.3 points, and Breen’s Bentley fourth, with 228.2 points – a very close restult. In the non-vintage category F/Lt. Matlock is third, behind the two Allards. He drove a 4-speed Austin Seven with special 2-seater body, 4-speed gearbox, standard engine with downdraught carburetter, and i.f.s. He was ably assisted by his passenger, David Allen.

The final results reveal that in the interesting “pit-stop” test the best times were: — Ewen (Delage) 51 sec., Breen (Bentley) 70 Sec., Richmond (Lagonda Rapier) 78 sec., Silcock (Allard) 80 sec., Colborne Baker (4 1/2 Invicta) 86 sec., Rivers-Fletcher (Alvis) 94 sec., Quartermaine (“30/98” Vauxhall) 96 sec., and Beasley-Robinson (“30/98” Vauxhall) 97 sec. Everyone else took well over 100 sec.
