Sir, Being a reader of great enthusiasm and having profited from your ” Club News ” on several occasions, I would like to inform you of a good snip which I have come across. I hope this will bring to some enthusiastic reader many miles of real motoring
The snip takes the form of an Alvin “Speed Twenty ” open tourer, which I um informed is a 1935 model and belonged to a young man now serving in the R.A.F. The car is in good shape and is fitted with three S.U. carburetters, dual igni
tion, good batteries (two 6-volt) and has, I believe, been rebored. Telecontrol shockers are fitted, as are speedo, rev.counter, oil and water thermometers, in addition to the usual instruments. Lucas 1′.100 lamps are fitted and numerous extras in the shape of pass lights, etc. Bodywork is aluminium and in good condition, colour green ; weather equipment is good and side screens are in situ. Two brand new and unused covers are fitted to the rear wheels, whilst the remainder are serviceable.
Definitely an enthusiast’s car, there does not seem to be much demand for 3-litre jobs in this locality, and it seems a shame that she should be idle, standing on her own four-wheel jacks, as she has been for the better part of the war.
1 have just bought a 3-litre Lagonda or I should have purchased her myself. I believe she is expected to fetch somewhere around £150, but no doubt would go for considerably less. I would he genuinely pleased to place any interested party in touch with her owner.
here’s wishing you every success in your endeavours to keep the vintage enthusiasm strong, and 1, for one, will do all I can in seeking out likely models.
All good wishes to Mown SPORT. I am, Yours etc.,
