Spring must be here, for Brooklands opens again on March 12th. The combined . motor-cycle and car meeting starts at 2 p.m. and the usual admission charges apply. The Club has managed to change certain ” difficult ” dates, and its fixtures are now as follows :—March 13th, Chiltern Trial ; April 23rd, Donington meeting; April 30th, Surrey Trial in conjunction with Mid-Surrey A.C.; May 21st Donington meeting with U.H. & U.L.M.C.; July 9th, Lewes Speed Trials ; August 27th, Prescott Speed Hill Climb ; November 27th, Gloucestershire Trial. The Northern Trial on January 23rd was won by F. King (Lancia Lambda) in the large class and D. D. Clapham (Alvis) in the under 11-litre category. A list of members will shortly be issued, also the balance sheets for 1937. There are some 290 members on the books, and the newcomers to the fold include eight associates and owners of the following cars :—one Bugatti, one Frazer-Nash,. one 61-litre Bentley, one 3-litre Sunbeam, two 3-litre Bentleys, one G.N., one Targa Florio Itala, one Mathis, one Special, one Delage, one Lea-Francis and yet an

other 30/98 Vauxhall. The current Bulletin contains a report of the Northern Trial and Sam Clutton’s impressions of a 191.4 G.P. Mercedes, which is still a. match for any 30/98.

There will be pre-war classes at Lewes and the scratch pre-war class at Shelsley in May is largely due to Clutton’s persuasive powers. Many members have been meeting at the ” Phcenix.” New members with the right motors and/or the right ideas will be very welcome.

The N.W. London M.C. is postponing its Easter Team Trial until later in the year, as it feels that priority should be given to the more important S.U.N.B.A.C. Team Trial scheduled for April 23rd.
