THE R.A.C. RALLY
ENTRIES EXCEED THREE HUNDRED
Entries for the R.A.C. Rally closed last month with a total of 317, compared with 308 in 1935. Every type of car is represented in the Rally from the small 7 h.p. sports car to the largest luxury saloon, and there are in all fortytwo different makes. The following is the number of entries from each starting control :
The Rally is divided into eight groups according to horse power and body work, and the following is the number of entries in each group :

Of the total entry, 166 are open cars and. 151. are closed.
There are 39 entries for the ladies’ prizes and, in addition there will be a large number of ladies taking part in the Rally as second drivers.
The Rally commences on Tuesday, 24th March, competitors being despatched from the nine starting controls at two-minute intervals, the first one leaving at approximately 3 p.m. After covering the 1,000 miles road section, competitors arrive at Torquay on Thursday, 26th March, between 9.30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The cars are examined for condition on arrival. They are pat ked in the open on Thursday ‘night, and on Friday morning have to be started from cold within two minutes. The eliminating tests follow and, on Saturday, the event concludes with the Coachwork Competition.
