THE RILEY MOTOR CLUB.
THE annual Twenty-four Hour Reliability Trial held by the Riley Motor Club is the most important and popular event in the club’s calendar. It is to be held this year on June 23rd and 24th, and certain details of its scheme are already available. On this occasion there will be fifteen starting points in the United Kingdom, including such centres as Liverpool, Birmingham, Cambridge, Cardiff and Bristol. By arranging controls in these big towns the committee has aimed at saving competitors the inconvenience of having to drive many ” unprofitable ” miles to out-of-the-way starting points. Irish competitors will be able to cross to Liverpool when they like and make that their starting point. Llandudno is again the rendezvous, but this time the day section of the trial will be held through Snowdonia, probably including the four famous passes of Sychna-nt, Nant-Francon, Llanberis and Aber-Glaslyn. The route promises to be extremely beautiful, although interesting enough to appeal to the most hardened trials driver. There will be classes for ladies, private owners, novices, teams and the trade. The committee of the Riley Club believe that out of the 1,500 members there will be many who would like to spend their Summer holidays in touring in company, and to be relieved of most of the troubles and formalities of booking accommodation and, if the tour is a foreign one arranging for triptyques, etc. At present it is suggested that the tour should be in the Highlands, the Alps, the Pyrenees or the Arctic circle region of Norway and Sweden, and members are being consulted as to which they would prefer. It is believed that if some 30 cars took part the tour could be conducted on most economical lines, and that a trip lasting 14 to 18 days would cost no more than the same time spent at an ordinary seaside resort.

SOUTHERN JOWETT CLUB.
The annual dinner and dance held at the Florence Restaurant, London, proved to be well up to the Club’s usual standard of cheerfulness and enthusiasm. Mr. B. A. Dudley Ward presided, and an unusual (but in many ways praiseworthy) feature was that after the Royal toast had been drunk there were no speeches. Everyone was in agreement with this course, and dancing quickly began, and was carried on for the rest of the evening with great spirit. The Jowett Club has an amazingly talented group of entertainers in its ranks, and during the evening Mr. J. Pointon, Mr. Eric Filcher, Miss Vera Woodgate, and Messrs, C. H. and F. L. Fletcher, and E. W. Pitchford provided entertainment in the way of songs, sketches and recitations of the first order. A thoroughly good evening

The Irish Motor Racing Club’s rally, which was held last week-end, provided the first event of its type to be promoted in the Dublin area for drivers of any type or make of car. The sixty mile course contained six open checks and a secret check, and though the route included no freak country, it made a sufficiently severe test of driving ability.
Competition in the Club Team section was very keen between the Irish Motor Racing Club, the promoters, and the Ulster Automobile Club, but the first place in this section was taken by the Dublin University M.C.C., the LIVI.R.C. and the Ulster Club taking second and third positions. First and third awards in the one-make team section were won by Rileys ; a silver plaque for the best performance by a lady driver was awarded to Mrs. R. B. S. Le Fanu (Austin) and two Riley drivers, Messrs. T. C. D. Harris and J. Owens, tied for the plaque for the best performance by a man driver. Bronze plaques were awarded to all competitors who finished without the loss of more than 5 marks.
