Dealing - Kent's Own Prancing Horse
A specialist with a showroom full of Ferraris
Anyone who has been near Brands Hatch during the past 20 years will be familiar with the sight of Foskers, the UK’s oldest independent Ferrari specialist. It has occupied a site near the main paddock entrance since 1997.
Established in 1968 by Bernard Fosker, the business is now run by his sons Jeff and Colin. The firm always holds an impressive stock of Prancing Horse cars at its 5000sq ft premises – there were 28 on offer at the time of writing – and operates a state-of-the-art Ferrari workshop that’s capable of servicing and repairing all models from the earliest classics to cars in the current line-up.
It’s probably fair to say, then, that the Foskers team knows more about the lately broiling pre-owned/classic Ferrari market than most – so what’s Jeff Fosker’s take on the current state of play?
“As recent auction results have shown, the market has slowed and softened. Buyers are taking longer to decide which car to buy and they are coming back to the traditional way of buying by visiting dealers, road-testing cars and spending time with the seller. Gone are the days of hasty decision-making in packed auction rooms,” says Fosker.
“In my opinion, the best value Ferrari at the moment is the Boxer. Prices for Testarossa, 512TR and 512M models have finally stabilised, however, and there are far fewer for sale this year.
“Early Monodado (single wheel nut) and Monospecchio (single mirror) cars are still very sought after and so prices have firmed up on these models.
“We have recently sold two 512TRs and will most definitely be buying more very soon. The 512Ms are always good news and still in demand.”
