Raikkonen shows WRC improvement

After crashing out of the opening two rounds of the World Rally Championship in Sweden and Mexico, Kimi Räikkönen has secured points finishes in Jordan and Turkey.

The Citroën Junior driver (right) now lies 10th in the WRC drivers’ standings after finishing eighth in Jordan and fifth in Turkey, four points behind rally veteran Henning Solberg.

The 2007 Formula 1 World Champion struggled at the start of his maiden WRC campaign but, according to co-driver Kaj Lindström, an improvement in pace notes has led to better results.

“I’m learning all the time and that’s a nice feeling – a bit like my early days of circuit racing,” said the Finn after his result in Istanbul. “I’m very happy, although I’ve no idea how we’re getting home [following the volcano flight ban]. I’m sure we’ll find a way…”
