Clock ticking for Imola management
Formula Imola, the company running the famous Italian circuit, has gone into administration owing some €4 million. Ironically, one of the biggest debts was for the cost of the 2008 re-opening, intended to re-establish the autodrome’s commercial potential.
Beset by questions of ownership and liability, the company has until June to straighten its finances, otherwise the track rights will go to public tender.
Current events including a World Superbike round are being organised by a temporary management team under Maurizio Flammini, the man behind the proposed Rome GP. As a major creditor of the company, he is a contender to take over the circuit.
