The Brooklands Society which I founded in 1967 is expanding its many activities to incorporate a fourth event, the VSCC’s Sprint meeting at the Surrey Track in June for the best performance against handicap by a vehicle which has also competed at Brooklands in period. The other three are the MAC’s Vintage Shelsley Walsh hillclimb in July, VSCC Prescott in August and the VSCC’s Donington ‘See Red’ race meeting in October.

The Society has also obtained a permit to run a series called the Brooklands Society Handicap Championship, based on all the VSCC’s race, hillclimb and sprint meetings, once again for cars which competed at Brooklands in period. They will be using two impressive historic trophies from the Society’s archive as the championship awards (see p115), to be retained for 12 months by the respective winners.
