Masters sticks with troubled Donington

Racing at Donington Park was suspended for a month from early April after work ahead of the planned 2010 British Grand Prix left the circuit without a 2009 track licence. But the Masters Racing Festival still looks set to go ahead as planned on May 9/10.

Work on a new access tunnel on the exit of McLeans corner dramatically changed the position of the barriers and reduced the run-off area. The opening HSCC race meeting of the season ran under a temporary track permit, but MSA rulings meant that races ran with yellow flags through the corner to prohibit overtaking.

Meetings planned for April and early May were cancelled, but Christopher Tate from the Masters organisation said: “We’ve worked hard to find an operable solution to run our Festival safely and successfully.”
