It was 50 years ago that Standard revitalised the ailing Triumph name and began to enter TR2s in motorsport, ambitiously starting with the Mille Miglia. As a works co-driver and later the boss of Triumph’s competition department, no one could be better suited than Robson to write this.
It’s packed with detail about the highly varied cars which flew the Coventry flag, from bog-Standards to exotic specials such as TRS, Conrero and the stunning Kastner ‘K-Car’.
Right up to the rally TR7 there was always an exciting project on, and Robson has spoken to nearly everyone involved. It was so thorough the first time round that this re-issue hasn’t had to be augmented; but a re-read is bound to turn up new knowledge.
