New archive at Silverstone
Access to racing history should be simpler and quicker in future thanks to a new initiative to centralise the archives of major clubs and circuits. A new body called the British Motorsport Central Archive, to be based at Silverstone, is being set up to bring together and permanently house reports, programmes, posters, photographs, film, video, books and other material on the sport. The wide range of bodies co-operating in the venture includes clubs such as BRDC, BRSCC, BARC and MSA, specialist clubs (VSCC, HSCC, 750MC, 500 OC), circuits (Castle Combe, Mallory Park) as well as organisations such as the Formula One Register, BMRMC and Haymarket Publishing.
The centre will provide facilities for those researching racing, and will have details of other archives, producing a resource which will be accessible by internet. GC
