McLaren MP4S sold en masse
The collection of 16 Marlboro McLaren MP4 Grand Prix cars, which was acquired by David Clark’s consortium, as reported in Motor Sport last month, has been sold intact and is likely to remain in Britain.
The transaction was completed by lawyers on behalf of a client who wished to remain anonymous. Speculation, however, suggests that the 16 examples of the marque’s most successful model, spanning the years from 1982 to 1996, have reverted to the custody of McLaren International boss Ron Dennis, who was reported to have been very far from thrilled at their availability on the open market.
“My aim was to sell the cars individually to strategic people,” said Clark. “In business, you are not always able to realise your dreams, but I am proud to have been part of this deal,” he said. As pledged, a substantial donation from the proceeds of the sale is being made to the Honeypot Charity for underprivileged children. MP.
