Right crowd, wrong place
Sir,
Silverstone — home of British motorsport. What a shambles. The same story every year: narrow country lanes, pasture land for car parks, delay upon delay, our so-called premier motorsport venue.
On Saturday I was one of the fortunate ones looking from the infield at the mud-covered paying public (those who got in), subjected to uncovered expensive grandstands, unpaved pedestrian areas, greasy burgers, no car parking, poor viewing and appalling toilet facilities. I recalled the words “The right crowd and no crowding”.
We really have made a lot of progress since then. I believe it is time to move on and give the paying public value for money. I wish Brands Hatch well in its bid.
I AM, YOURS, ETC,
Mark Rayss, Wallington, Surrey
