The Bugatti OC has its enjoyable Classic Prescott hill climb on June 5/6, and the VSCC goes there for its notable annual event on August 7/8, practice first, timed action on the Sundays. The moderns championships are on June 26/27 and September 4/5. The Club Secretary is Mrs Sue Ward, on 01242 673136. The International Bugatti Rally in south-west France takes place from June 14/19.

Embarking on a list of some of the Club journals and newsletters I enjoy, many of them had to be left out, and the STD Register was deprived of its very welcome journal, which is supplemented by a monthly Newsletter. Very professional, with much good colour, is the Rolls-Royce EC’s bulletin, a Club which has increased its membership by 87 in two months, some new members having several cars. The annual rally and concours will be at Cottesbrooke Park, Northants, on June 6.

the new curator of the National Motor Museum is Andrea Bishop, BSC, MA, who has served with the Natural History Museum, Bristol City Museum and the National Museum of Wales. She succeeds Michael Ware, a director of the Museum. A new Beaulieu exhibit is an 1982 BMW 525i, and the 1960 Allard Dragster is now shown climbing a wall. The Prince Henry Trophy was awarded for 1999 to Lord March, the Brooks Trophy to Sammy Miller, and Beaulieu’s director of Personnel and Training has been awarded the MBE. The NMM Library, which is open 364 days a year and has been spending £41,100 a year, has at last been forced to charge its customers for using its services.
