Economical with the truth

Sir,

I read your editorial (May) with horror. How can a publication devoted to the sport decide that a section that it disapproves of will not be mentioned?

My subscription to your publication was so that I could read a mature analysis of what is supposed to be the pinnacle of motor racing.

My hypothesis is that as you are now part of a group of motoring magazines, your management deemed it too expensive to send reporters to Australia and South America, because you might have to pay the same reporter twice for reporting the same event. No doubt when Formula One returns to Europe, you will suddenly discover that it will be possible to comment after all.

I hope I will not have to read a national newspaper which deletes all mentions of laws because it disapproves of Parliament.

I am, yours, etc
