Slide-eyed
Sir,
How refreshing it is to read such excellent and clear-cut articles as those presented by DJT and DSJ – long may they continue! The current F1 situation is so well put by these writers. It really is an awful state into which it has sunk, and to what end? Money and politics!
Along with thousands (millions?) of racing enthusiasts, I have followed motor racing for more years than I perhaps wish to remember. In the ‘good old days’ of the 1950s and ’60s it was fun. Today all we see is pure greed and ‘sales attainment figures’ and it is us, the spectators, who lose out.
Perhaps, when FISA realises the number of people turning to American-style racing on TV, then it might just take on board that something stinks in F1 and that attitudes need to change.
Finally, with reference to the recent Dirty Laundry article, Dan Gurney’s suggestion of regulating cars to go, say, 30 mph slower through corners with a substantial powerslide will attract more attention than the boring cornering techniques of the present age.
