Matters of moment, June 1985
New import
A 1.3-litre version of the Alfa Romeo Arna is now available on the British market at £4,620. Talbot has added two new models to the Horizon range and all new Horizons have received a cosmetic face-lift. Fiat is offering the Bianca, a limited edition of the Panda Super which, as its name suggests, comes in an all-white finish and Ford is offering a Laser II version of the Escort L.
Bitter approved
The attractive Bitter SC 2-door Coupe has received Type Approval and, by the time this appears, the first eight should be in the country. A network of eight specialist dealers has been appointed, delivery time is expected to be in the region of 12 weeks and the importers, Gordon Lamb Concessionaires of Chesterfield, predict sales of about 150 cars in the first year.
Variations
Next year will see the arrival of cars from Isuzu, Japan’s smallest manufacturer. Charles Follett Limited is establishing a new company to import them and initially will concentrate on the Piazza, a two-litre turbocharged coupe which is styled by Giugiaro and which was seen at the NEC Motorfair last October. Prices have yet to be announced.
