Brooklands Society Re-union-july 1st

In spite of recent set backs to its plans for the “40 Acre” site at Brooklands, the Brooklands Society announces that its annual Re-Union at the historic site will be held, a week later than usual this year, on July 1st, starting at 11.30 am. The Paddock, Finishing-straight, Campbell circuit and Test Hill will be out of bounds but a ¼-mile sprint along the runway will be held, together with demonstration runs along part of the Byfleet banking, for appropriate cars. The sprint may not sound very exciting, over only a short distance on the long but post-war runway, but it is intended that it shall be fully competitive, under RAC permit, so it should produce some interesting comparative times and, we can only hope, a better selection of genuine ex-Brooklands cars than the Re-Union had last year. The event is by permission of Fuller, Oeiser Ltd and deserves support, although one wonders whether the close proximity to the VSCC’s busy Jubilee Celebration week may somewhat reduce entries, especially as paid-up BS members will be charged for admission. On the other hand, overseas visitors to the VSCC week may wish to see action at Brooklands also. Details from: Mrs M. Peddle, Yarnham, Rectory Close, Stanton St. Quintin, Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN14 6DE. Entries for the sprint and banking runs close on June 16th. — W.B.
