Tour of Corsica in Colour

Fast, tight, and the nearest thing to a road race without actually being called one, this rally exerts uncommon pressure on both human and mechanical reliability. Least troubled by either were Darniche and Mahe in their Lancia Stratos (above) and they won comfortably. An amazing drive in a somewhat unlikely car for a fast tarmac event was that of Tony Pond who was third in his Datsun Violet (below) whilst Guy Frequelin, Talbot’s French driver, put himself and his team at the heads of both World Championship categories by taking his Sunbeam Lotus (right) to second place.
