Miniatures News, June 1977
Unlike Corgi, who have chosen a horse-drawn coach for their latest miniature, Dinky have issued as their model for the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Year a Leyland Atlanteen ‘bus rigged out in a Silver Jubilee livery. This representation of the well-known NBC front-entrance/centre-exit ‘bus is to 1/75th scale, 123 mm long. The ref. no. is 297 and the recommended UK retail price £2.10.
Having now seen made-up versions of Grand Prix Models’ 1936 Corsica-bodied Type 57S Bugatti, Martini-Le Mans Porsche-Turbo, and particularly their yellow, disc-wheeled 1927 Rolls-Royce P1 tourer with side-mounted spare wheels and “Flying Lady” mascot, we strongly recommend all these miniatures, although we think the R-R Inspectors would have rejected the fit of the Phantom’s back mudguards. Incidentally, this detailed R-R comes with a detachable metal tonneau-cover, and is a very pleasing addition to the growing numbers of GP historic miniatures. In kit form it costs £5.95 plus 50p postage and packing. W.B.
