A sleeve-valve BSA tourer, used before the First World War as a taxi in Llandrindod Wells, is about to be restored by a garage in that town. To accord with the 60th anniversary of the Morris, The Journal of the Morris Register, spring issue, contained a long informative article and tabulated data on the Morris-Cowley. The Bentley DC’s W. O. Bentley Memorial Fund had reached £14,300 by the end of March. The Salmson Register has started a spares section, while the Register publishes four newsletters a year and holds a rally and socials every year, for a membership fee of £1.00. Details from: I. S. Maxwell, Stream Cottage, 40, Beacon Road, Ditchling, Sussex. The Register has been presented with the O’Wilson Jones Cup by K. L. Motors of Bromley, as a memorial to the well-known Salmson driver. The Jowett CC celebrates 50 years of the Jowett with events throughout the country, culminating in the 8th Jowett National Rally at Cheltenham over the week-end of June 23rd/24th. An Edwardian 24/30 Wolseley is being restored in Carmarthen and its owner is in need of many spares, including, if possible, an engine. Letters will be forwarded. Aston Martin/Lagonda Ltd. have published a history of their company but are wide of the mark in stating that the 1-1/2-litre Aston Martin which was new in 1927 “later” had dry-sump lubrication. This model had this complex system from its inception but wet-sumps were introduced subsequently: they claim that the International model “established new standards of roadholding and handling, leading the sports-car trend up to the Second World War”—but would 328 BMW owners agree?

The Railton OC celebrates the 40th anniversary of the make with its National Rally at Finmere, Bucks., on June 17th. The Wolseley Register has extended its activities to embrace 1950s models, which are really outside the scope of this column. Rumour says that a 1930 Morris Isis has been found, buried in a Suffolk garden. The Daimler & Lanchestcr OC National Rally, at which prewar as well as post-war examples of these illustrious makes appear, takes place at Stanford Hall, near Rugby, on June 10th. The Bugatti OC/Ferrari OC International Rally, based on Cheltenham, takes place from June 28th to July 1st, with a 35th annivorsary hill-climb at Prescott on June 30th, sponsored by Shell, at which only pre-war cars will compete and there will be a Survivors’ Handicap in which it is hoped that personalities who were at the first Prescott Meeting will participate, in appropriate cars. On July 1st this cavalcade of Bugattis from all over Europe is to visit Brooklands Track, where tea will be taken, reminiscent of those Sunday afternoon tea-dances which happened there in the 1920s.
