The Wellesley Special

Sir,

In your March issue, Richard Wellesley asks for news of the car which he built in 1937.

I bought the car in 1946 from Bob (now Roberta) Cowell, who then had a garage at Lightwater. I had intended to run the car at Shelsley and Prescott.

The car had twin JAP engines but was plagued with gearbox trouble and I never got it running satisfactorily enough to compete.

I sold the car to R. W. Shakespeare and enclose a photograph of him driving it up Prescott in 1947. Unfortunately I have no news of its later history.

Lympne. Richard W. Cookson.
