Fibreglass fire protection
Sir,
Recently you may have seen the photographs of the burnt-out Lotus Elite – not far from your office by the way.
May I, through your excellent journal, issue the following:
May I please correct a popular misconceptien among many owners of fibreglass cars. There is NO chemical built into the fibreglass to give fire protection. It is always advisable for your own safety and protection to carry one of the branded fire extinguishers available today.
This follows my very recent conversation with the driver of a burnt-out (front end) fibreglass car, who blandly said, “I stood back when it caught fire waiting for the chemicals to put it out.”
I am, Yours, etc.,
