This is a breezy, readable yet instructive guide to touring in almost any country any motorist might wish to travel through, from the professional and experienced pen of Tom Wisdom. We enjoyed “Tommy’s” rally and motor-racing anecdotes as much as his advice about where to go, what to eat, how to wine and dine, etc. This reminds us that Wisdom has been a racing and rally driver of repute for so many years, and knows intimately so many motoring personalities, that we would welcome an autobiography from his able and entertaining pen.

Meanwhile, if you contemplate holidaying abroad this year, “blue” 25-bob on this stimulating book. Tommy has slipped up on page 193, for Count Eliot Zborowski was killed at La Turbie ten years earlier than he states, his son Louis Zborowski a year earlier than 1925, as quoted, nor did “Chitty 2” have a Maybach engine, but these are minor mistakes in a book that (alas) isn’t about “Tommy’s” motor-racing anyway.
