This is a revised edition of this useful work which first appeared in 1954 and which describes clearly how sports-car bodywork can be constructed in timber, metal and plastics. There is a real need for this kind of information when the home-built “special” or reconditioned vintage car is completed and the problem of endowing it with a respectable body arises.

The book is produced in Batsford’s high-class style and the lucid chapters are supplemented by excellent pull-out plans and copious diagrams. That the book is fully up-to-date is evident from the closing chapter, which deals with multi-tubular space frames (which form a body structure in themselves), while useful appendices on F.I.A. regulations governing bodywork, F.I.A. sports-car regulations, suppliers of body materials of all kinds, manufacturers of piece body materials and details of commercially obtainable sports car bodies are included, to enhance the value of an honest and useful work on a highly specialised subject. – W.B.
