Rare Bandini and Bond FJs hit the track

Two rare Formula Junior racing cars have been back on track this season, including a 1960 front-engined Bandini. The car (left, above) is one of only six remaining examples of the nine built in period by Ilario Bandini. It has been restored by British racer Tony Pearson.

“His creations are some of the most beautiful cars you will ever see,” said Pearson at Cadwell Park as he gave the car its first race for at least 30 years.

Meanwhile, the rare front-wheel-drive Bond (left, below) will be raced by Andrew Tart this season after a complete rebuild. His team now hopes to complete the second chassis, which was built in period but never used.
