GM scraps evo car plan
The General Motors brand, which has raced at Le Mans since 2000, and its long-term motor sport partner Pratt & Miller have abandoned plans to build a car to the evo prototype formula announced at Le Mans last year. It is unclear how far the project had got, but a wind tunnel programme had been undertaken.
The official reason for the decision is financial, according to GM’s road-racing chief Steve Wesoloski. The Le Mans organisers’ decision to back away from its proposals for a closed-top evo class in favour of a future for ”real prototypes” was also a factor.
GM, which has a contract with Pratt & Miller to the end of 2010, will continue to race its Corvette C6.R GT1 next year.
