City-centre F1 demos planned

A series of demonstration events for Grand Prix cars from 1988-98, some in European city centres, is the new project from David and Lorina McLaughlin at FORCE (Formula One Race Car Entrants).

The first event will be during the Silverstone Classic on July 25-27, when a dozen recent F1 cars will perform. McLaughlin expects the events to appeal to a new generation of F1 fans.

“This is about cars in their original livery,” said McLaughlin. “There are more cars from this period around than people realise.” The FIA Historic F1 Championship only accepts cars up to 1985.
