Willie Green will be in charge of selecting entries for the annual ‘Circuit des Remparts’ race meeting at Angoulême in France on September 20/21. Races will include pre-war sports, 1950s sports cars and Alfa Romeos, and more details are available from Green at williegreenderby@aol.com.
Ford GT40 racer Shaun Lynn took his Cologne Capri to victory in the Donington race for the new Touring ’70s series from the Masters organisation. The new class is aimed at the Group 2 touring cars of the 1970s, notably Cologne Capris and BMW ‘Batmobiles’.
The date for Race Retro in 2009 has been confirmed as Friday-Sunday March 13-15. The sixth running of the International Historic Motor Sport show will again be at the National Agricultural Centre at Stoneleigh Park, near Coventry.
A new monument to Jim Clark has been erected at Hockenheim. The memorial was funded by donations (including substantial sums from Dan Collins and Clive Chapman) and was commissioned from a Cumbrian stonemason.
The GT and Sports Car Cup, the race series for pre-66 GTs and pre-63 sports cars, kicked off at Silverstone recently when Peter Horsman’s Lotus 17 headed home a 30-car field. Run by Flavien and Vanessa Marcais, the series now heads to circuits such as Monza, Dijon and Charade before returning to Britain for a race at Donington Park in October.
The Nicholas Pozner Foundation, set up in memory of classic car dealer Anthony Pozner’s son, will fund a student design award for the study of architecture with a particular emphasis on film. The subject was a passion of Nicholas’, who was killed in a car accident in 2006.
