Phoenix rising
Phoenix Park in Dublin hosts a two-day race meeting on August 11/12 on closed public roads.
The historic ‘real road’ circuit in the 1800-acre park, the last in Europe to survive, saw pre-war greats such as Birkin, Campbell, Carracciola, Ivanowski and Kidson compete during the 1920s and ’30s for the Irish Grand Prix Trophy. This year Crossle sports racing cars will run two races to commemorate the marques 50th anniversary.
