VSCC May 21 Cadwell Park

Marking 30 years of VSCC racing at Cadwell Park, a day of good grids and entertaining racing made up for wet weather at the daunting Lincolnshire venue.

In the Shuttleworth and Nuffield Trophies event no one could match the pace of Max Fraser’s immaculate Cooper-Bristol en route to the Shuttleworth honours. Ben Fidler tried to stay with him and claimed the Nuffield and Len Thompson memorial spoils, both for the second consecutive year. The 500cc Formula Three credits went to sixth-placed man Mike Fowler.

Jonathan Cobb had a memorable day in his Frazer Nash, taking three wins in all. In one of them, Charles Gillett twice led the chase of the fleeing Cobb in his similar Super Sports.

William Mahany repeated his 2005 success to lift the Spero Trophy again, leaving fourth on track Frank Hernandez to claim the Voiturette honours. The Chas Reynolds/Robert Kemp pairing got the better of the experienced Gary Caroline in the Morgan three-wheeler clash.
