American Duncan Dayton took the big prize during Monza’s major historic event at the end of May. Racing his Williams FWO7C, Dayton won a cracking TGP contest to bring a halt to Fredy Kumschick’s winning sequence in his FWO7C.

Dayton led from the start, but over the second half of the race he was forced to keep pushing hard as both Kumschick and Christian Gläsel’s Brabham BT49 closed to within a couple of seconds. A good break in late-race traffic aided Dayton’s route to victory.

The Historic F2 race for the Jim Clark Trophy was a two-parter and the Ralt RT1s of Tony Thompson and Philip Harper each won one section, while Bob Juggins topped out the 1600cc cars in his Lola T240.

Swede Bo Warmenius had a good weekend, pipping fellow Lotus Elan racer Sean Walker in the FIA Historic GT race and winning the Historic Touring Car event as well in his Ford Lotus Cortina. PL
