The HSCC’s Superprix at Brands Hatch on July 5-6 will see this season’s first use of the track’s Grand Prix layout. The highlight of the 14-race meeting should be the Can-Am cars of the Orwell Supersports Cup.

Our congratulations to Bob Morton of Lockerbie, winner of our recent Italian Grand Prix competition. He will attend this year’s race at Monza courtesy of Airtrack.

Sir Frank Williams will head the guest list at the launch of Adam Cooper’s book Piers Courage: Last ofthe Gentleman Racers at Goodwood on Saturday, July 12. Other attendees will include Roy Pike, Charles Lucas and Jonathan Williams. There will also be a signing session on the Motor Sport stand.

Sir Jackie Stewart was re-elected as president of the BRDC during the club’s AGM in May, while Ray Bellm and Michael Ostroumoff were elected to the board of directors for the first time.

A class of 15 Ferrari and Maserati race cars will be a highlight of the Festival of Hillclimbing at Shelsley Walsh on August 15-17. Alongside a round of the British championship, other classes will include Shelsley Specials, the History of Shelsley, World Rally Cars, TGP cars, up to eight ERAs and a snapshot of cars from 30 years ago.

Allan Winn has been appointed director of the Brooklands Museum and took up his new post in May. Winn is well-known in aviation and motoring circles and is a committee member of the VSCC, owning a 1929 3-litre Bentley. He was formerly editor of Flight International magazine.
